Letter #3

Dear October,
You were supposed to rain today. Instead, you just teased us with pockets of sunshine and clouds. You made me lug my umbrella around for nothing, but I guess that’s what I get for believing the weather forecasts. I’m not sure I have any philosophical musings for you today. I took my first major college exam this afternoon. It went well, except for the True/False section. I HATE true/false questions. They only work in absolutes, and I always over think them, assuming that the addition of one word is enough to shift the entire statement from true to false or vice-versa. What’s more, these were hardly absolute statements, and for some of them you could make a pretty good argument for either side. There were only a few questions like this, and I feel confident about the rest of it, but it still got on my nerves. Tonight I plan to wind down with a cup of tea and a good book. And that’s really all I have for you, October. Some days are less poetic than others.

  1. Oh weather forecasts.. I've started printing out monthly forecasts, and then I post them by the door so I will know whether to wear pants or not. I love this post, and I agree with that wonderful last line! I'm really glad you have time to really relax with a book and some tea. For some reason tea is even more relaxing in college that it was at home! It's moments like that that for some reason really make me appreciate college life. Like the hectic and the stressful makes things fun in a everyone's-stuck-in-the-same-boat sort of way and because being busy is fun sometimes, but those really simple satisfying things like walking back to your dorm with squishy flip flops after a shower, and having jasmine green tea with your roommate while sitting on the floor, and eating a caprese sandwich on the way to class and checking uphill, downhill, and sideways before jaywalking with a scone in your mouth (it is really fun to eat and travel) easily make me feel really appreciative. It's so weird! I'd always heard about how once you get older you learn to appreciate the simpler things or something like that, but it was hard to imagine me appreciating tea more than I usually did, or me feeling better about picking up packages than about playing online games. Very strange. Also I love how Sara Bareilles just sings a Taylor Swift song during her concert just as a comparison of choruses xD
